My piece "Witches' Brew" resulted as I was inspired by the theme of the Group Show.

I decided to take the theme very literal- while featuring my daughter as a model again. The theme of magic and witchcraft has always attracted me in the (fantasy)books & TV-series I watched -as a child, teenager, but also in adulthood, as I still enjoy it. Think of the series "Charmed"- which I am currently revisiting with my daughter-, "Buffy the Vampire Slayer", "Angel" and of course Harry Potter, books by Anne Rice, Stephen King, Diana Wynne Jones etcetera.

The featured dress is one I fell in love with in my twenties as its sparkles and colors made me think of a magical moonlit and stardusted night. The mortar and pestle is a link to my other occupation as pharmacist. The lighting (a fire glow is implied here) in this piece is darker than my usual work which I thought fitting to the theme and also was a new challenge to me. The magical letters spell the name of my daughter - can you guess her name?
